General Discussion: Pottermore (SPOILERS)

Tons of owls are swooping dropping mails to everyone. What are your thoughts about Pottermore's Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone?

Mine? the sorting hat took all my energy as I was really hoping to still be in Gryffindor (maybe the Sorting Hat can really hear our thoughts).

The back story of Professor Mc Gonagall was boom and waaaah!!! It was way beyond my expectations Smile

I can now hear DADAFs comments once she reads about it.

However, the lack of animation and sounds can somehow bring down your interest. And having the book beside you. I was thinking that the entire chapter would be read on screen, but then only glimpses.

Just explored the site today (got my welcome owl last night). The Sorting Hat blew my mind! I was sorted to Slytherin!! Shocked

I liked the back stories, ghost plots, as termed by JKR. Mapapaisip ka talaga, "May ganito palang nangyari sa buhay nila?" And to think, they're only fictional characters. =)

I agree with doc rj, medyo kulang nga sya sa animation and sounds. Hopefully, they'll add it to the site.

As for the Hufflepuffs, well, nobody could say they’re not nice people. In fact, they’re some of the nicest people in the school. Let’s just say you needn’t worry too much about them when it comes to competition at exam time.

got my owl a week ago... it was a "hit and miss" experience for me... i was lost at first... don't know what i was looking for... or where to go next... but'was addicting... got sorted to gryffindor... my wand? it's sycamore with phoenix core, 11 inches... i love the new infos they are giving about the characters... makes you have a new insight on the septology.... lots of "ahhh" and "kaya pala" moments... love the potion brewing... wonder when will they open book2? (sarado pa di ba? or lost na naman ako... affraid

)

My wand: Silver Lime with Unicorn Core, 10 3/4 inches and quite flexible. I'm still adjusting with my new house. The potions are quite addictive, though I had been unlucky one time that I failed to brew the Awakening potion, melted my cauldron and lost 5 points from my house. x_x

Doc Arg, I think they just opened book 1 for the beta testing.

I just got in & was sorted into Slytherin .. Kinda bummed at first because I thought maso-sort ako sa Hufflepuff -- I always thought of myself as one. Well, I guess from now on I'll think of myself as a Slytherpuff Wink

I had that problem before. What I did was just to stay on that page. I didn't click the "come back later." And then after that, it got fixed.

Based from experience, it really feels weird. The moment the sorting hat decided that I belong to Ravenclaw, i was like, "TF!!! I don't belong in that house! I'm supposed to be in Slytherin!"Heart-breaking, yeah...but you'll eventually like it. I'm loving the eagles now. They're not bad after all. Although, I'm missing Slyth now... Sad

my wand is apple, 10 3/4, Unicorn core and supple.

I am having a hard time in Potions, though. Suggestions so far include music (I was like, "c'mon, walang Hedwig's Theme on an official Potter site?") and animation, more space for movement and I hope I could name my owl. Smile

Pero maganda yung graphics, I was just expecting in Halloween chapter that when we click anywhere in the page, the Troll would smash the bathroom doors then we get to fight it using Wingardium Leviosa.

Hey, I'm in Gryffindor at Pottermore too. Potions and Spells are hard at first, that's why there are practice rounds. I suggest remember the steps by groups, like the first 3 then. You could always go back to check on the next methods after. It'll be hard to control the liquids and vials because when you put it down, they literally lay down and spill -- and you might waste ingredients -- so just be careful. For tempering the cauldron, let it stay green within the time limit. You could lower-off-lower-off the fire as you please as long as it's just in the green.

For spells, I suggest to click twice on your keyboards instead of the mouse pads. Also, just prepare your fingers on the letters. You'll get the hang of it Very Happy

I agree. nakakalungkot kasi walang Hedwig's Theme. Sana man lang kahit tuwing bubuksan mo yung Pottermore, tutunog yung Hedwig's Theme kahit ipasada lang. Or kahit a few lines lang para di naman nakakaumay.

Pero tulad ng sama mo, ganda ng animation. Tapos yung mga unpublished stories nakakatuwa, especially yung kay Prof. McGonagall.
