Chapter 5: The Order of the Phoenix

Sirius wants Harry to know all about the Order but the Weasley parents and other wizards think he is too young to know all the details yet. Eventually they give in and Harry finds out that the Order is working to stop Voldemort regaining power. They learn he is trying to build an army of dark creatures. Cornelius Fudge refuses to believe Voldemort is back and thinks that Dumbledore is just trying to overthrow him. Sirius reveals that Voldemort is trying to obtain an extremely powerful weapon, more powerful than the banned curses.

Question:

1) Cornelius Fudge begins to see Dumbledore as a threat to his authority and is in denial of Voldemort’s return. What do you think are the other factors (aside from jealousy) why Dumbledore has been demoted from Chief Warlock on the Wizengamot?

Basically to discredit Albus. Discredit the man and you discredit everything he stands for, including his beliefs about the return of the Dark Lord (and consequently his faith in the Chosen One). The demotion illustrates to the public how the former Chief Warlock of the Wizengamot cannot be trusted; that he'd lost his marbles. If they (the Ministry) can discredit Albus, then they will find it easy to sway the public's opinion. They will also have an easier time to placate the magical folks in this time of fear and uncertainty. That there is nothing to fear, that everything is certain. All codswallop, of course.

~i believe that the minister was afraid that Dumbledore might be a Candidate for the next minister of magic. and besides form that, dumbledore's been on the daily prophets with issues which are lie that saying he is an old foul and liar.
