Chapter 20: Hagrid’s Tale
Harry, Ron and Hermione visit Hagrid who is cover in cuts and bruises and looks quite beaten up. After some coercion, Hagrid reveals that he went to find the giants along with Olympe, the head of Beauxbaton school. After a slow and deliberate process, Hagrid and Olympe had convinced the leader of the giants to trust them and listen to Dumbledore’s thoughts. However, after nearly convincing them, a fight among the giants broke outm the leader was killed and the new leader had already been convinced by Voldemort’s Death Eaters to join him. While there, Hagrid found out that his mother, a giant, had died years ago.
Umbridge comes to Hagrid’s cottage unexpectedly and the students all hide. She is very suspicious of Hagrid and tries to find out why is late back to the school. He doesn’t let her know.
Question:
Hermione cautions Hagrid about Umbridge, knowing that she is targeting weaker teachers. Why would Hagrid shrug off Hermione's serious warning and concerns?
Re: Chapter 20: Hagrid’s Tale
because he was out in duty for months and doesn't know the true blend of umbridge's mood so he would rather teach them than listen to cautions.

Well, there's the trust factor that Hagrid has when it comes to Dumbledore. Again, as long as Albus is around, everyone, including Hagrid, must feel safe and secure. There's no point in worrying because the great Albus will protect them.
Another possibility is that Hagrid doesn't want to alarm Hermione by showing any kind of concern over this matter. If Hagrid shows discountenance about the whole thing, the weaker he would appear. Not only that, there's a bigger concern out there, bigger (literally and figuratively) than this newbie Dolores. He has to keep his priorities intact.

I think it's all about Hagrid's duty of teaching his students. Hermione know that Umbridge may accuse Hagrid of some things that's why she warned him

Umbridge, doesn't just target weaker teacher's but i believe in hagrid's case, it's because it's known that his loyalty is with dumbledore. And he shrugs it of both (i agree with dadaf) because of dumbledore and ofcourse there are more pressing matters at hand than that of umbridge...
