Harry was so upset and frustrated that there is still no news from any of his friends. After 3 days of being locked up in his bedroom, Vernon, Petunia and Dudley attended a ceremony, leaving Harry alone in Privet Drive. That night, the Advance guard arrived and Harry found himself with 9 witches and wizards who brought him to a place he has never been before - The Headquarters of the Order of the Phoenix".

Question:
1) Harry has become upset and disappointed at being isolated for days. How would you feel/how would you react (if you were in his shoes) about being left alone and prevented from recieving news in the wizarding world, knowing about all the dangers that is going on around you?

Knowing me when I was Harry's age, I'd probably feel exactly the same way Harry felt. Frustration tops the list of emotions, indeed. Followed by irritation towards my friends (I'd probably even throw in "so-called" in between 'my' and 'friends' to mark my fit of temper), doubt about the whole enterprise, maybe doubt even what I've seen at the graveyard (did I really experience those things?) and dismayed with the authority figures (Dumbledore, Sirius, Remus, etc.).

General sentiment: Nobody understands me. I'm all alone. To hell with all of you.

Melodramatic much? Well yeah. That was me when I was Potter's age. And add to the proverbial brew all the tragedies Harry experienced (first as an orphan PLUS the last 4 years as a wizard-in-training), I'd say Harry was in the middle of a calamity we can only imagine. Burgeoning adolescence plus hero journey cannot be good. Very Happy

Hmm...it's hard to tell seeing as I can't really imagine being in the kind of danger Harry's in. But normally, I don't really get too worked up when I'm kept out of the loop. Besides, I'd probably tell myself that if Dumbledore thought this was the best for me, I'd accept it.

But I can understand Harry's frustration somewhat. I think we also need to consider that he saw his friend Cedric a few months ago die. So he's basically stewing in his own guilt at this point. It's probably not so much about being left alone but that he wants to know what's being done to round up Voldy so he can help and feel less guilty about Cedric.

For someone who has just been attacked by a couple of dementors, received notice of a disciplinary hearing (which could lead to his expulsion from Hogwarts) and told to stay with the people who did not have the faintest idea of the danger that lies ahead, Harry's desire to have knowledge of what's going on with the wizarding world was rather normal. Being isolated for days, with full awareness of the Dark Lord's return, I would be frustrated not to hear any news from the people whom I knew had the information (not the rubbish the Daily Prophet's talking about).

As for my friends, I'd seek for reassurance, at least. I guess a few words of comfort would not hurt. It was bad enough that the adults were too keen to avoid communicating with me.

And I agree with DADAProfAE. It's typical for a teenager to feel misunderstood and alone, especially when you're in a tight spot-- what more if you're still fresh from a traumatic year.

- I'll feel exactly the same as Harry felt. I'll feel very upset because I can do nothing to help Hogwarts save from the attacks of Voldemort (no one knows when and where will Voldemort's forces will attack). I have to agree with Dadaf too. She's right. Harry is in the middle of a calamity which made him do nothing to get out of there.

i'll just accept the truth that dumbledore has plans for so i'll wait to what he says and not to take any magical actions for the muggle world because the dark lord can sense what i am doing.
