Time to revive this discussion. Homestretch guys! cheers

----------------------------------------------------------

We're finally starting to get to the bottom of this whole mystery! We found out (thank you Hermione) who Nicolas Flamel was in Chapter 13. Although, keen readers would have already made the connection given the title of the book. Anyhoo...

  • Snape's refereeing the match between Gryffindors and Hufflepuffs. How do you suppose Snape convinced Madam Hooch to let him sub? In retrospect, do you think Dumbledore (he was in the match after all) had any hand in the decision to referee the match/guard Harry or was it all Snape?

  • Ron wanted to buy his own Quidditch team if he had the sorcerer's stone. You're Nicolas and you have to choose just one, immortality or gold? Why?

Gold for me, definitely. Not because I'm desperate for moolah, but because I don't like the idea of living forever. We only have the Greek gods to look at to serve us examples for this. As immortals, they do not appreciate life the same way we mortals do. It is our mortality, the promise of death, that gives meaning to our lives.

Not only that, I can't imagine living forever minus the people I care about. I hate the idea of watching all the people I care about kick the bucket before I do. . .

--Well I think he's the only faculty capable of refereeing the match since Prof. McGonagall can't since she's the head of Gryffindor and maybe she's old enough for Quidditch too, nor Prof. Sprout is, since she's the head of the Hufflepuff house. If one of them would be the referee, it is inevitable that whoever was picked, the other house would think of it as bias. Professor Flitwick, despite his house will not play, I think his height and age is the problem.
--Dumbledore can't since he's the headmaster, and for the other profs, oh well, my guess is they have no sufficient knowledge on refereeing Quidditch and perhaps, other faculty has no interest or whatsoever.

Ron wanted to buy his own Quidditch team if he had the sorcerer's stone. You're Nicolas and you have to choose just one, immortality or gold? Why?

--I prefer gold for practicality purposes and the same reason as DADAProfAE, I don't like the idea of seeing the people I love and care die right in front of my eyes.
